I think that it’s hard to find any connection between IQ and alcoholism, as one is your natural intelligence and one is an addiction, controlled sometimes by an addictive personality.

As for knowing the difference between right and wrong, even alcoholics can know the difference, but sometimes they can’t control it. Their IQ may come into play when they realize that their addiction is wrong, but the addiction takes over, and they cannot control it.

I have heard, however, that those with high IQs are more likely to become serial killers, as they have a higher chance or being a perfectionist, paying attention to detail, following patterns, and the like.

Interesting study though!
